Most of our trip will pass through the picturesque Troodos mountain range, famous for its magnificent green cedar forests and clean mountain air. There, at the foot of the mountains among vineyards, lies Omodos village, protected by UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). We will walk through its narrow cobbled streets and visit Timios Stavros Monastery. The monastery is famous for containing a piece of the Holy Cross and Rope.
We will continue our journey stopping at the winery, where you will have a chance to taste Commandaria and Zivania among other local wines. The journey will then take us to the top of Troodos Mountains where we will visit the Tomb of Archbishop Makarios the first President of Cyprus.
We will then drive through the mountain villages of Pedoulas and Prodromos to the richest and most famous monastery of the island, Kykkos monastery. One of the miraculous icons of the Virgin Mary, which is said to have been painted by St. Luke during her lifetime, is kept here. After that, you will have a chance to enjoy local food at a restaurant and do some shopping in the square in front of the monastery.
Last stop Chrysorrogiatissa monastery in Panagia village, travelling through the panoramic forest of Paphos.
