Churches and monasteries – the treasure of Cyprus
Our trip will lead us to the most important Christian shrines of Cyprus. First, we will go to the center of Larnaca and see the Church of St. Lazarus, where the sarcophagus with the relics of the saint is stored.
Next, we will visit the church of St. Cyprian and Ustinha in the village of Meniko, where you can venerate the miraculous icon of witchcraft and the evil eye and bow to the relics of the Saints.
On the way to the monastery of Maheras, we will stop in a colorful tavern to eat and relax.
Stavropegial Maheras Monastery – the second largest and most significant in Cyprus.
The monastery was founded at the end of the XII century, on the site of the miraculous acquisition of the icon of Our Lady of Maheras by the Evangelist Luke. After visiting the monastery, we will go to the village of Kato Lefkara, famous for the art of needlework “Lefkaritiko” and silver craftsmen. There are several Orthodox churches in the village. One of them is the church of the Archangel Michael end of the XII century.
On the way back we will drop into the working convent of the Holy Great Martyr Minas. They come to the icon of St. Minas to ask for health and material well-being.
